Metal Recycling Operative - Click for details

Responsible to: Works Manager/Works Supervisor

Department: Works Department

Job Overview: To assist in the sorting and cropping of metals. 

Working hours: 40 hour week

Pay: Minimum wage for the first 6 months then £7.70 per hour thereafter (A pay increase within the first 6 months may be made depending on ability and experience. This is down to the discretion of the Managing Director).

Key responsibilities:

  • To work efficiently and effectively as part of a team
  • To keep work area clean and tidy
  • To maintain high levels of Health & Safety standards
  • To achieve job standards set out by Works Manager/Supervisor
  • To be adaptable and flexible in your approach to work
  • To perform any reasonable request from Works Manager/Supervisor
  • To ensure safe loading/handling/unloading of all material
  • To operate cutting/cropping machinery
  • Ability to demonstrate good time keeping and attendance

Key Attributes:

  • Duties involve regular repetitive light, medium and heavy lifting
  • Attention to detail
  • Good standard of fitness
  • Level 1 literacy and numeracy

Physical Effort: This post requires a high level of physical effort. The majority of work, some 80% each day will involve lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and bending.

Class 2 HGV Driver - Click for details

Responsible to: Transport Coordinator

Department: Transport

Working hours: Varied - some weekend work required

Pay: Negotiable depending on experience

Key responsibilities:

  • To ensure that all collections from customers are made on time
  • To ensure that all vehicles are presented to the customers in an acceptable clean and tidy condition
  • Responsible for ensuring changes to any collection/delivery details are notified to the office before driver leaves customers site
  • To comply with the Road and tacho laws and legislation
  • To comply with working time directive laws
  • To ensure all Alchemy paperwork is completed accurately and correctly (waste transfer notes; labels on containers; delivery notes etc)
  • To ensure company procedures are followed
  • To ensure all loads are securely sheeted and strapped prior to transportation
  • Responsible for handing all paperwork to a supervisor on returning to the yard
  • Responsible for verbally briefing any agency drivers in relation to methods of work and delivery paperwork
  • To carrying out daily checks on the trucks
  • Responsible for handing in a weekly defect document to the Transport co-ordinator
  • Responsible for informing yard staff of any damaged skips/ containers
  • Responsible for communicating any information and/or changes from the customer to the transport co-ordinator
  • To work together to ensure that the Transport department runs as economically

All those applying must have held their class 2 for at least 2 years and have up to date driver CPC and a valid DQC card.

Job Overview: To maintain specialised machinery

Working hours: 40 hour week

Pay: Commensurate with experience

Key responsibilities:

Maintaining hydraulic and electrical machinery.

Working efficiently and effectively as part of a team

Maintain high levels of Health & Safety standards

Experience Required:

  • You will be a professional and knowledgeable Site Engineer with proven experience servicing and maintaining specialised hydraulic and electrical machinery.
  • You will have a good track record of proven results within the field.

Working hours: 40 hour week

Pay: Commensurate with experience

Key responsibilities:

  • Working efficiently and effectively as part of a team
  • Managing new and existing accounts
  • Talking to new and existing customers on the phone and in person

Experience Required:

  • You will be an articulate and confident individual
  • You will have a good track record of proven results within a similar role
  • You will be computer literate with experience managing your own diary and customer database
